Ayurvedic Management of Erectile Dysfunction(Male Sexual problems, Impotency)

Sex is a function of our body, which is influenced by both physical as well as psychological factors. A person should be in a healthy physical and psychological state to enjoy a happy sexual life.

According to Ayurveda sexual activity serves the dual purpose of reproduction and pleasure. The problems related to sex and their treatments are described under a specialty branch called Vajikarana.
Dietary and Lifestyle Recommendations:

  • Avoid consumption of alcohol..
  • Keep away from smoking.
  • Avoid working for long hours.
  • Practice Yoga and meditation regularly to keep away anxiety, depression and stress.
  • Do not have the fear of not getting hard erections or do not doubt your ability to satisfy your partner.
  • Happy and comfortable atmosphere at home is very essential
  • Exercise regularly and daily.
  • Massage whole body with herbal oil at least once in a week.
  • Sleep at least for 8 hours a day.
  • Avoid hot, spicy and bitter foods.
  • Drink more milk, yoghurt, Ghee and juices.

 

Ayurvedic home remedies you can try:

  • Consuming garlic is one of the best ways to treat sexual impotence.
  • Onion is another very good vegetable to treat sexual impotence. It increases libido and strengthens reproducing organs. White onions are best for this purpose.
  • Finely chop about 150 grams of carrots. Consume this, along with a half-boiled egg, dipped in a tablespoon of honey, once every day. This will help increase sexual stamina.
  • Wash 30 grams of black raisins in lukewarm water. Eat them with a glass of warm milk, daily. Increase the quantity by 50 grams after some time.
  • Including lots of seeds, fruits, nuts, grains, fresh green vegetables and fresh fruits in the diet is helpful in treating sexual impotence.

A qualified Ayurvedic doctor will first try to analyze the root cause of the problem and will try to eliminate the causative factors related.
Counselling with the patient and partner, prescribing aphrodisiacs or advising new techniques are the part of treatment.
In many cases therapies like Abhyanga, Kadivasti, Snehavasti and pizhichil are advised along with internal medication and diet and lifestyle changes.
